Who is A Gator Bites?

Welcome! My name is Alexis Cobo and I think of myself as an innovative educator. Although this is only my eighth year in education, I consider myself a lifelong learner and an expert of transforming classroom learning with technology. Although my degrees are in the fields of Jewish Studies and education, I have spent the last several years teaching myself everything from computer programming, Google Apps for Education, to the ins and outs of Apple Technologies with the use of iPads and iMacs. 
    Technology totally transformed the way I learn and teach; So I capitalize on the fact that my students are digital natives and try to inspire them to become digitally fluent learners in ways that are meaningful and relevant to their lives. In particular, I am passionate about taking a technology tool, such as an iPad, and seamlessly integrating the device into my students' learning through differentiated instruction. On a daily basis I instruct not only my students, but my colleagues as well through various in-service professional development opportunities as well as presenting at a variety of educational conferences.
   In my personal life, I am deeply passionate about my family as I am a lucky wife and mother to my three year old son, and two beautiful step-daughters. I am most often found  in the kitchen imitating recipes of my favorite Food Network chefs, playing sports, and cheering on the Florida Gators (hence the Gator of A Gator Bites)!
